Everyday learning
Hi all. Sorry I have not been posting as often. I have been trying to spend less time on the computer. Plus, I have been taking less pictures. Just a phase, I assure you.
Theo is doing better, but not yet well. We still do not know what caused his seizures. It's been a long week. He had some side effects from the tons of antibiotics they pumped into him. He's broken out in a rash all over his face and head, has maintained a low grade fever for over a week, and has extreme difficulty swallowing. We learned this week that he has an infection in his stomach and throat, as well as some throat ulcers. He is taking yet another medication to get rid of the infection. After two days of the medication he already has some minimal improvement in swallowing, but it will be another 2-3 days before he can eat more solid food again (we hope). In the meantime, he has discovered that oatmeal pies do not hurt to swallow. We're picking up his second box today.
The rash is likely a side effect of the seizure medication; the neurologist also suspects that the fever is from the seizure medication as well. Theo will be transitioning from one seizure medication to another much more efficient (and expensive) one over the next 10 days or so. This transition increases his likelihood for seizures, but he simply cannot persist with a low grade fever; it's not good for the brain.
We'll keep you posted. As you can see from the pictures above he is able to spend time with the kids, and do small things. A grocery store trip to Walmart wears him down for the day though; unfortunately he cannot be left unsupervised, so he must come along.
Hunter is trying to walk. We're pushing him along. He prefers crawling because he can keep up with Ben. It's so fun to watch them grow.
Thanks again for all your well-wishes and cards and such. We really appreciate it, and sometime soon we'll get back to you all.
