Garden Yummies

Just a quick shot of two beautiful edibles we'll be dining on soon. This is the very first eggplant I've ever grown. I bought two plants for .50 cents at the Dane County Farmer's market and planted it in late June, much later than the rest of my garden. I'm excited to make Lisette's Eggplant Parmesan (CSULB gals... remember we had it at the very first grad school gathering at her apartment in Long Beach?)

This swiss chard is almost too pretty to eat, huh? I got the seeds for this from my neighbor, and later went out and bought more. I have a few plants growing. They come up in a multitude of colors, but mine are all red and white. So pretty. Hopefully yummy.

I may have told you this before, but I have a kick ass recipe for steamed swiss chard with dessert wine poached dried fruit, its like a cold, sweet tangy salad. Let me know if you'd like it!!!

So jealous, once again. Swiss chard is totally out of season for me here.
