Day Out With Thomas

We made it! This morning we left first thing to attend the Day Out With Thomas in Union, IL. Ben was so thrilled. We enjoyed it, too. It was clear immediately why last weekend was cancelled. The Illinois Railway Museum was obviously flooded, we found standing water and ankle deep mud every where we turned. The trains were still really cool to look at, explore, and even ride. So glad they opened Friday to accomodate last weekend's patrons.

Ben was in a state of disbelief that Thomas was actually on the track in front of him!

For those of you who are not fanatic about Thomas, this is Sir TopHam hat, the "fat controller."

Here we are riding Thomas.

The boys got Thomas tatoos.

This was made of Legos! Who the heck has that much time?

This whole little village in here was all legos, but covered by plexi-glass so the kids could not take it apart.

A local train club brought their set-up...

I was so excited to this cool Army train, carrying realistic little soldiers, and vehicles.

There were tons of trains at the IRM, in many colors, shapes, sizes, from differents eras.

Some trains had elaborate set-ups delineating the way in the which the car would have been used in the time it was made. I loved this romantic, fancy train.

I was a sucker for the old train signage, too.

What a fun morning!
