The Elegant Farmer & East Troy Electric Railroad

Around our area the Elegant Farmer is known to have THE best apple pie; they bake them in a paper bag with a cookie crust. Yum delicious. I had one at our neighbor's house sometime while Theo was in Iraq, perhaps it was a Superbowl party? Anyhoot, I really wanted to visit the place they were made, and see what else they had to offer. Yum delicious muffins and fresh deli sandwiches, too. They happened to have an old-fashioned farm fair going on; Ben played pin the tail on the cow, got a fake tatoo of a snake, rocked on a giant wooden rocking horse, and took a hayride through the place where the infamous pies get their apples, the orchard.

From the grounds of the Elegant Farmer you can catch an old electric train & ride to a small train museum/shop in East Troy. This was Ben's very first real train ride, and nevermind the fact that the train wasn't blue, it was still Thomas to Ben. The trains used to run in Chicago, but now are restored and used here by avid train hobbyists and volunteers. They have dinner trains, and brew trains. We're thinking about getting a year pass to come back and enjoy this place more often. We all had a great time.
