White Christmas
Christmas Eve morning we woke up to this:
More snow than you could throw a chicken at. I read somewhere that on any given year we have an 80% chance for a white Christmas where we live. Since we've lived here (2003) I think we've only had one Un-white Christmas.
Later that evening, before we put the kids down for bed, Grandma Anita grabbed the kids attention with a scandinavian tradition. So the folklore reads, people of that region sprinkle reindeer food (birdseed and oats actually) on the front porch & yard the night before Christmas to ensure the reindeer make a stop at your house. The note on the bag of reindeer food says you must go straight to bed afterward. The kids loooooved this idea, and so did our local habitat of bunnies, squirrels and birds.
